Vought Contributes $100,000
to March of Dimes for Annual Campaign

DALLAS, MAY 10, 2010 – With fundraising activities still underway, Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. announced today that it has raised $98,099 to date for the annual March of Dimes walking campaign, led by a corporate contribution of $50,000. Vought registered hundreds of walkers to support local March for Babies events that took place last month in various locations across the country.

Seven of the company’s sites participated in local March of Dimes walks: Brea and Hawthorne, Calif.; Dallas and Grand Prairie, Texas; Everett, Wash.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Stuart, Fla. The company’s site in Georgia is conducting its own mini-walk on May 14 since there is no official March for Babies event in the Milledgeville area.

Vought employees in Texas raised nearly $20,000 for the March of Dimes. In California, the Hawthorne site contributed $10,000 and Brea workers collected $2,215. The Nashville site had its most successful March of Dimes campaign ever, raising more than $10,500. Employees in Everett, Wash., raised $3,382. The company’s Stuart, Fla., site collected $2,900. Fundraising activities for the March of Dimes in Milledgeville, Ga., are still ongoing.

“We have a long history of supporting the March of Dimes, which champions the needs of moms and babies in our local communities and across the nation,” said Vought Human Resources Vice President Tom Stubbins. ”It is gratifying for our employees and family members to join together and help babies get a healthy start.”

March for Babies (previously WalkAmerica) -- the nation’s oldest walking event -- has raised more than $1.8 billion for the health of America’s babies since 1970. It is the March of Dimes’ grassroots effort to raise money for the fight to prevent birth defects, infant mortality and stem the growing crisis of premature birth, the leading killer of newborns.
