Vought Engineering Executive Joins UNT Advisory BoardDALLAS, JULY 24, 2009 – Ronald Muckley, vice president of Engineering and Materiel for Vought Aircraft Industries, has been selected to serve on the University of North Texas’ (UNT) College of Engineering Advisory Board. As an advisory board member, Muckley will support UNT by offering guidance in achieving national prominence in teaching and research, contribute industry and business perspectives on how to position the university in today’s and tomorrow’s society, and serve as an advocate in securing funds through public and private sources. “Corporate Citizenship is a key element in our company’s strategy for success,” said Muckley. “Industry involvement with the colleges and universities that are producing the next generation of aerospace professionals is an important tactic in executing this strategy. By actively engaging with the university, we can assure that the engineers we hire have the knowledge and skill sets necessary to immediately contribute in the workplace.” UNT’s College of Engineering was established in 2003 and currently serves over 1,700 students at the North Denton Discovery Park campus. The Advisory Board was established in 2003 to provide the college and its leaders with advice on how to best advance its research, teaching and service missions. Current members include representatives of North Texas companies with engineering workforces and interests in technology advancement. Vought joins Bell Helicopter, L3 Communications, and Weber Aircraft in representing the aerospace and defense industry. “We are honored to have such a distinguished and knowledgeable engineer and business executive joining our advisory group,” said UNT College of Engineering Dean Costas Tsatsoulis. “His experience in both the automotive and aerospace industries offers us a unique perspective and insight that will benefit our education, research and industry support programs.” Before joining Vought in January 2008, Muckley was vice president and general manager of TRW’s North American Braking and Suspension business. Earlier in his career, he worked for Chrysler Corp. in various engineering, product and manufacturing assignments. Muckley holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Detroit and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University.
