Vought Donates More Than $105,000 for March of Dimes Annual Campaign

DALLAS, MAY 13, 2009 – Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. today said it has raised $105,475 to date for the annual March of Dimes walking campaign, led by a corporate contribution of $50,000. Vought registered hundreds of walkers to support local March for Babies events that took place last month in various locations across the country.

Eight of the company’s sites participated in local March of Dimes walks: Brea and Hawthorne, Calif.; Dallas and Grand Prairie, Texas; Everett, Wash.; Nashville; North Charleston, S.C.; and Stuart, Fla. The company’s site in Milledgeville, Ga., will participate in its March for Babies event in the fall.

Vought employees in Texas collected $30,000 for the March of Dimes. In California, the Hawthorne site raised $8,300 and Brea workers raised $3,200. Fundraising efforts are continuing at the company’s Nashville facility, where contributions currently total $4,500. Employees in Everett, Wash., raised nearly $4,400. In North Charleston, S.C., the Vought site contributed $2,675 and its Stuart, Fla., site collected $2,400.

“When our employees participate in this campaign, they are giving more than their time and money,” said Vought Human Resources Vice President Tom Stubbins. “They are giving hope to families of babies born too soon or too sick. The money Vought raises funds research to find answers to the serious problems that threaten babies.”

March for Babies (previously WalkAmerica) -- the nation’s oldest walking event -- has raised more than $1.8 billion for the health of America’s babies since 1970. It is the March of Dimes’ grassroots effort to raise money for the fight to prevent birth defects, infant mortality and stem the growing crisis of premature birth, the leading killer of newborns.
