Vought Names Scholarship Winners

DALLAS, AUG. 24, 2007 – Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. has announced the recipients of eight higher education scholarship awards of $2,000 each.  The recipients, selected from the 40 students who applied, are listed alphabetically by company location:

Jefferson Street Site
Site Haylee Williams –
Senior, Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, Ark.; recreation-sports management major (2003 high school graduate; home schooled in Fort Worth, Texas).

Grand Prairie, Texas
Marshall Street Site
Nicole Hoffman –
Senior, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas; environmental design with architecture studies major (2004 graduate of Mansfield Summit High School, Mansfield, Texas). She also was a 2006 Vought scholarship winner.

Dezorey Vahed – Junior, University of Texas at Arlington, nursing major (2004 graduate of Mansfield Summit High School, Mansfield, Texas).

Hawthorne, Calif.
Monica Singh – Senior, University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla.; psychology and pre-medical major (2004 graduate of Gretchen Whitney High School, Cerritos, Calif.). She also was a 2006 Vought scholarship winner.

Milledgeville, Ga.
Melise Fathi – Junior, Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga.; psychology major (graduate of Jonesco Academy, Gray, Ga.)

Nashville
Amanda Petty – Senior, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; biology and chemistry major (2004 graduate of Oakland High School, Murfreesboro, Tenn.).

North Charleston, S.C.
Smith Hopkins – Junior, Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, Tenn.; bible and philosophy major (2005 graduate of Rio Vista High School, Rio Vista, Texas).

Stuart, Fla.
Shannon Filipponi – Junior, University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla.; communication sciences and disorders major (2005 graduate of South Fork High School, Stuart, Fla.).

The 2007 scholarship program is sponsored by Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. and the Nina and Gordon Williams Scholarship Fund.

Eligible students must be the spouse, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter or grandchild of an active Vought employee. The students, all of whom are entering either their junior or senior year of college, were selected based on their academic standing, involvement in school and community activities, as well as a personal essay and letters of reference.
