Vought Welcomes Soldiers, BLACK HAWK helicopters from Fort Hood Two BLACK HAWKs from Fort Hood land at Vought's facility in Dallas on May 24, where employees build the helicopter's cabin structure. Soldiers arrived on the helicopters and provided employees with an up-close view of the world's standard for medium-lift utility helicopters. Army Lt. Col. Michael Gawkins spoke at the event, who commands the 3rd Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. The brigade returned from Iraq at the end of 2006. While deployed, the CAB was charged with transporting soldiers, equipment and supplies across the country. The event was in recognition of the important partnership that Vought and Sikorsky have formed to develop this battle-tested helicopter and in appreciation of the service of our nation's soldiers.
