Vought Delivers 600th Wing Set to Gulfstream For its GIV, G450/350 Business Jet FleetsNASHVILLE, FEB. 16, 2007 – Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. is marking a production milestone this month by delivering its 600th set of wings for Gulfstream’s GIV, G450 and G350 series of business jets. Gulfstream produced 536 GIV series aircraft before transitioning the production line in 2003 to make way for today’s G450 and G350 business jets. The GIV was the first complete wing design responsibility for Vought’s Nashville facility, which has been a key supplier to the Gulfstream family of aircraft since 1965. “It is an honor to have our wings on the world’s best-selling large-cabin business jet, “ said Joe Coleman, program manager for Vought’s Gulfstream business in Nashville. “It’s also an honor to have a long-term relationship with Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., which sets the standard when it comes to business travel.” In late 2006, Vought shipped its 1,100th set of Gulfstream wings from the Nashville plant – a milestone that spans four decades. The Nashville site (then known as Avco Aerostructures) built 265 wings for the Gulfstream II business jet between 1965 and 1978. From 1978 to 1986, the plant produced 236 wing sets for the Gulfstream III jet. Since 1986, workers at the site have built wings for the Gulfstream IV (and now the G450 and G350) series of aircraft. In addition, Vought’s facility in Dallas produces the fully integrated wing for the Gulfstream G500 and G550 series fleet. Its plant in Stuart, Fla., produces nacelles for Gulfstream G450. The Gulfstream G450 draws on the heritage and experience of the Gulfstream GIV-SP. It is a large-cabin, long-range business aircraft with a range of 4,350 nautical miles, a maximum operating speed of Mach .88 and a maximum cruise altitude of 45,000 feet. The Gulfstream G350 is a large-cabin, mid-range business aircraft. It has a range of 3,800 nautical miles, a maximum operating speed of Mach .88 and a maximum cruise altitude of 45,000 feet.
