Vought Announces Scholarship Recipients

DALLAS, AUG. 25, 2006 - Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. recently announced the recipients of seven higher education scholarship awards of $2,000 each. The recipients, selected from the 34 students who applied, are listed alphabetically by company location:

Dallas
Whitney Fasbender - Junior, University of Kansas; dual majors in journalism and nursing (2002 graduate of Cheney High School, Cheney, Kan.).

Grand Prairie, Tx.
Nicole Hoffman - Junior, Texas A & M University; environmental design with architecture studies (2004 graduate of Mansfield Summit High School, Mansfield, Texas)

Hawthorne, Calif.
Monica Singh - Junior, University of Oklahoma; psychology pre-medical major (2004 graduate of Gretchen Whitney High School, Cerritos, California).

Milledgeville, Ga.
Caleb Dunnam - Junior, College of the Ozarks; mass communications major (2004 graduate – home schooled, Milledgeville, Georgia)

Nashville
Meredith Purcell - Senior, Tennessee Technological University; communications and journalism (2003 graduate of Gallatin High School, Gallatin, Tennessee)

Jenna Thomas - Senior, Middle Tennessee State University; concrete industry management major (2003 graduate of Blackman High School, Murfreesboro, Tennessee)

Stuart, Fla.
Thomas Maresco - Junior, University of Florida; microbiology and cell science major (2004 graduate of Lincoln Park Academy, Fort Pierce, Florida)

The scholarship program is sponsored by Vought Aircraft Industries; Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America Local 263; and the Gordon and Nina Williams Scholarship Fund.

Eligible students must be entering their junior or senior year of college and be the son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter or grandchild of an active Vought employee. Students must also maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0. In addition to their transcripts, applicants submitted a 500-word personal essay and two letters of reference.
