DALLAS, MARCH 4, 2005 – Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. recently marked the one-year anniversary of Gov. Rick Perry’s visit to its Dallas headquarters and the announcement that the Economic Development Division had awarded Vought a $35 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant to help spur job growth. As part of the grant agreement, Vought pledged to create 3,000 jobs by the end of 2009. Today, Vought announced that it had already created 811 new jobs in Texas through work consolidation from other sites outside Texas and important new business wins, such as the contracts to build airframe assemblies of various new Sikorsky BLACK HAWK helicopters and structural components for existing C-5 Galaxy transport aircraft. “This is a win-win for the State of Texas, North Texas economy and Vought Aircraft,” said Gov. Rick Perry. “We are confident that Vought will continue to work hard to fulfill the Texas Enterprise Fund job creation requirements and bring more work to our great state.” “Because of the Texas Enterprise Fund grant and other sound business moves we have made over the last twelve months, a stronger and more dynamic Vought will be able to better compete in the global marketplace,” said Vought’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Risley. “We are pleased to be able to report to Governor Perry and his staff that we are well on our way to meeting our goal of creating 3,000 new jobs by the end of 2009.” In addition to Vought’s 811 new jobs, there are more than 200 job openings posted on Vought’s Web site or on WorkinTexas.com (Texas Workforce Commission), ready to filled by qualified workers.
