Schwartz Named VP of Military Programs at Vought Aircraft Industries

DALLAS, NOV. 10, 2004 – Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. today announced it has named Frederic C. Schwartz as vice president – military programs. Schwartz reports to Erich Smith, senior vice president of program management and business development for Vought.

Schwartz is responsible for leading all aspects of Vought’s military business, which includes the management of existing customer programs and the pursuit of new business initiatives. Smith, who previously held this position, was promoted earlier this year and had been the acting leader of military programs.

Schwartz joins Vought after 32 years with the United States Air Force. He spent 23 years of his Air Force civil service career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in Ohio, working on numerous programs. His last position at WPAFB was chief engineer on the B-2. Schwartz was then assigned to the Joint Advanced Strike Technology Program as director of program integration, later becoming technical director for the Joint Strike Fighter Program. He retired from the Air Force as a member of the Senior Executive Service in August 2003.

Schwartz, 56, earned a bachelor’s degree in space technology from the Florida Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in industrial engineering from Ohio State University, and a master’s degree in management, as a Sloan Fellow, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Among his numerous honors and awards, Schwartz is a recipient of the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Civilian Service.
