Vought Announces Scholarship RecipientsDALLAS, AUG. 6, 2004 – Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. recently announced the recipients of nine higher education scholarship awards of $2,000 each. The recipients, selected from the 39 students who applied, are listed alphabetically by company location: Brea, Calif. Dallas Jamie Goff – Senior, University of Texas – Arlington (UTA); music education major (2000 graduate of Martin High School, Arlington, Texas). Goff graduated with a degree in biology from UTA in May 2003 and was a Vought Scholarship winner in 2002 and 2003. Christopher Reynolds – Junior, Trinity University; economics major (2002 graduate of Martin High School, Arlington, Texas). Jessica Vining – Junior, Texas A & M University; accounting major (2002 graduate of Plano East High School, Plano, Texas). Hawthorne, Calif. Milledgeville, Ga. Nashville Stuart, Fla. The scholarship program is sponsored by Vought Aircraft Industries; the Vought Aircraft Management Association; United Aerospace Workers Local 848; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 20; Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America Local 263; and the Gordon and Nina Williams Scholarship Fund. “As a company, it’s important for us to invest in the next generation of workers,” said Judy Northup, Vought’s vice president and chief administrative officer. “Vought is proud to offer scholarships that benefit our employees’ families.” Eligible students must be entering their junior or senior year of college and be the son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter or grandchild of an active Vought employee. Students must also maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0. In addition to their transcripts, applicants submitted a 500-word personal essay and two letters of reference.
