DALLAS, MAY 1, 2002 - Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. announced today its employees have raised more than $127,500 for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica campaign.
Employees in California, Florida, and Texas participated in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica last Saturday. The amount raised by Texas employees ($109,500) earns them recognition as a "Super Hero" team by the March of Dimes. More than 325 Vought employees walked with their families and friends in Dallas to support this cause.
The Vought team in Hawthorne, Calif., exceeded its goal by almost 20 percent, raising $11,800. For the second year in a row, the Vought team in Stuart, Fla., set a new record for highest donation totals collected at the site, raising $6,253, a 25 percent increase from 2001. Vought employees in Georgia will participate in their local WalkAmerica event on May 11.
"This is an annual spring rite for employees," said Margo Parker, Vought chief human resources and administration officer. "Vought employees have actively supported the March of Dimes for more than 20 years, and their contribution to helping save babies can not be understated."
WalkAmerica - the walk that saves babies -- is the March of Dimes' biggest fundraiser. Now in its 32nd year, it is a nationwide tradition.
