DALLAS, FEB. 1, 2002 Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. announced today that its Milledgeville, Ga., facility has earned the Quality 100 Award for 2001 from The Boeing Co.
The award, presented today at a brief ceremony for Milledgeville employees, is for demonstrated performance as one of the top 100 Boeing suppliers in quality and delivery metrics, according to The Boeing Co. This is the first time Vought has earned the award at the Boeing enterprise level, having attained this level of performance with all Boeing operating groups. It is the second consecutive year for the Milledgeville site to earn the Quality 100 Award for Boeing Commercial Airplanes contracts.
"Voughts commitment to quality and excellence made this possible," said Tom Risley, Vought President and Chief Executive Officer. "This is an important recognition for our Milledgeville employees."
Vought has supplied Boeing with commercial airplane components since 1968, when Boeing began the design and development of the long-range wide-body aircraft, the 747. Today, Vought supplies aerostructures for almost all of Boeings commercial airplanes. In addition, Vought manufactures fuselage skin panels for the V-22 and is the single largest supplier on the Boeing-built C-17 transport. For the C-17, Vought produces horizontal and vertical stabilizers, control surfaces, nacelles and engine buildup, and universal aerial refueling receptacle slipway installation.
The Milledgeville facility supplies components for the Boeing C-17, Boeing 747, 757, 767 and 777, and the V-22. The site employs approximately 550 people.
