Vought Executive Receives National Leadership Award

DALLAS, NOV. 2, 2001 - Carol Everhart, a director of human resources for Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., today received the 2001 Eagle Award from the National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI).

Everhart is one of 24 executives being honored this week in Houston by NELI, a non-profit organization for African-American and Hispanic/Latino executives and college students. According to NELI, the Eagle Award is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding, culturally diverse professionals for going beyond the call of duty in their career and community involvements. Awardees should manage others and positively impact a company's bottom line or core business.

"Carol is a natural for this award," said Margo Parker, Vought Vice President and Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer. "She is a strong leader who is actively involved in the community. Carol is a role model, and we are proud of her accomplishments."

Everhart is a native Texan and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas Women's University in Denton. She began her career with Carter & Burgess Engineers, spent 15 years with Bell Helicopter Textron and served nine years as the dean of marketing and community relations for Dallas County Community Colleges. She joined Northrop Grumman in 1998 and was promoted a year later to director of sector community relations. In 2000, Everhart joined Vought Aircraft Industries as director of human resources, responsible for staffing, training and education.

Everhart has served on numerous boards, including the Dallas Area United Way, March of Dimes, Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce's Women's Forum, Community Leaders Forum, and the North Texas Food Bank. She also is a member of several professional organizations.

NELI's mission is to celebrate the success of culturally diverse professionals and empower them to help others succeed. It has presented 136 Eagle Awards since the program began in 1993. A selection committee, consisting of NELI's Executive Leadership Team and Eagle Advisory Board members - all of whom are past Eagle Award recipients, determines award recipients.
