Vought Aircraft's Holiday Giving

Food Drive Nets 688,209 Cans

DALLAS, DEC. 14, 2000 - Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. announced today it has raised 688,209 cans for its annual food drive, exceeding the company's 2000 goal by more than 25 percent.

Employees in Texas, California, Florida and Georgia participated in the Vought Can Do! food drive Dec. 4-8. An 18-year old tradition for the company, the annual fundraising event provides assistance to a variety of charitable organizations in local communities. In Texas, the food collected goes to the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The two food banks serve 600 agencies in 25 counties.

Events included a week of activities ranging from employee-operated carnival booths for games and food during lunch periods to silent auctions of donated prizes. T-shirt sales and money contributed throughout the year as voluntary payroll deductions added to the total.

Senior members of Vought's management team joined employees during the week as volunteer cooks and servers. The food drive serves as a rallying point for employees, said Gordon Williams, president and chief executive officer. "We're proud to be able to help people less fortunate than us," said Williams, "and employees have a lot of fun working toward a good cause."
