ADDING up a score of seven Jap aircraft in less than three weeks of aerial fighting in the Solomons, Corsair pilot 1st Lt. John L. Morgan Jr., from Arlington, Texas, achieved his rank of ace. Lt. Morgan is the sixth pilot of his squadron to become an ace, with five or more planes to his credit. His latest victory was scored when he downed three Zeros in a lively scrape over Bougainville Island in the Solomons.
