WING-WORK - Side-by-side with his Navy counterparts busy elsewhere on the flight deck, this Marine ordanceman checks over the mechanism of a wing of a Vought Corsair fighter plane aboard an ESSEX-class carrier somewhere in the Pacific. The gull-winged Corsairs, flown by Marines, are now flying into action with Navy-manned Avengers and Helldivers for aerial strikes against the Japs. Upon the vigilant members of carrier plane crews depend much of the carrier's battle-readiness.
