Boyington 31-year old Marine Corps ace who is listed as missing in action after shooting down his 26th Jap plane, is shown in a recent photo as he climbed into the cockpit of his Vought Corsair fighter. Boyington's mark equals the all time American record of Major Joe Foss and Captain Eddie Rickenbacker.
