Dr. Mick McKeown is Vice President - Washington Operations for Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. He has been the company’s primary liaison in Washington, D.C., since January 2001. Mick is responsible for directing Vought's federal government affairs activities.
Mick had a distinguished career in medicine, military service and congressional affairs. He rejoined Vought in 2001 after serving as the Director of Heath & Clinical Affairs, in Washington, for the University of California Academic Medical System.
He retired from the United States Air Force after serving as the senior military officer in the Office of Legislative Affairs for Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney. Mick also spent five years as a congressional liaison for the Secretary of the Air Force. Upon leaving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Mick served as the Director of Legislative Affairs for LTV Corporation and for Vought Aircraft Company. He then served as Chief of Senate Affairs for Northrop Grumman, subsequent to their acquisition of Vought.
Mick has received three Defense Superior Service Medals (the nation's second highest peacetime military award). He earned his doctorate in dental medicine (DMD) from the University of Oregon Dental School followed by a joint appointment to the Oral Surgery/Hospital Dental medical school clinical faculty. He holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington and a BS in Math-Science from the University of Oregon. Mick also is a graduate of the National War College in Washington, D.C., where he later served as the Deputy and Acting Chair of the Department of International Studies, one of the three major academic departments within the College.
In July 2004, Dr. McKeown was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Air Force Aid Society. The Society is a non-profit corporation organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes in support of Air Force members and families. The 20-member Board of Trustees includes the Air Force Secretary, Chief of Staff, Surgeon General, Judge Advocate General and the Assistant Secretary for Financial Management. 9/04
