Component Testing

New product development programs are expensive and can ill afford missteps in the development process. Often, program planning uses risk-reduction testing of less than full-scale components to assure that a concept will perform as designed. This allows a program to try out, on a reduced scale and at reduced cost, specific designs and construction techniques. Vought Aircraft has substantial experience in meeting the requirements of this type of testing environment.

The same type of test control and data acquisition system as used in Vought's full-scale testing is employed on component tests. This allows fully integrated load control and data acquisition for full monitoring of test component performance. In addition, Vought offers specialized test fixture design capability to support component tests. Test fixture design is especially important in component testing to assure that boundary conditions are accurate and do not adversely affect the component performance. Vought has significant experience in developing motion control systems that simulate spring rates and surrounding structure performance characteristics to allow accurate test and evaluation.
