Materials & Processes Laboratory

Vought's Materials & Processes Laboratory provides many services to allow for increased production efficiency. Some of these include:

Materials Test and Evaluation - The lab evaluates forging and casting processes, and checks for discrepancies in material conditions. Once detected, the lab determines the cause and proper remedial action for eliminating such discrepancies. The lab also evaluates new materials for potential application, as well as designing data generation.

Process Development - A process evaluation is performed by the lab prior to design. Once that is complete, process parameters and specifications for the materials are determined. Finally, the lab evaluates any process enhancements or modifications that have been made.

Process Troubleshooting and Corrective Action - Production process problems are identified, from metal machining to painting, and the root causes of such problems are determined. Corrective action is then taken to eliminate any discrepancies.

Production Support - Any failure of plant equipment is fully investigated to identify its probable cause and to determine recommendations for future failure avoidance. Unmarked or mis-marked materials are identified, and the resolution of process problems takes priority.
