Empennage & Flight Control Surfaces

The Boeing 747 tail section, built in Triumph Aerostructures' Dallas plant, includes the aft body section, the vertical and horizontal stabilizers, rudders and elevators.

For the 767 widebody aircraft, Triumph Aerostructures manufactures the center wing section in Stuart, Fla., and the horizontal stabilizer in Dallas. In 2001, Triumph Aerostructures predecessor company was selected to manufacture the aft body section of the 767 through the year 2010.

Triumph Aerostructures also produces spoilers and inboard trailing-edge flaps for the Boeing 777 airliner. The composite parts are constructed at the Milledgeville plant, with assembly at the Stuart site.

Triumph Aerostructures is the largest structures supplier to the Bell/Boeing team for the V-22 Osprey. The company's Dallas facility is responsible for the complete design and production of its empennage, ramp and ramp door.

In 2002 and 2004, Triumph Aerostructures predecessors company received contracts for manufacturing new flight control surfaces for the C-5 Galaxy aircraft. This assembly work is conducted at Triumph Aerostructures' facility in Dallas.

Production for the C-17 includes the tail section at the Dallas site, and the ailerons, elevators, and rudders at the Milledgeville facility.

For the C-130J Hercules, Triumph Aerostructures' facility in Nashville produces the empennage. The company has delivered more than 2,400 empennage sections to Lockheed Martin since it became a supplier for the C-130 program in the 1950s.
