In 1992, Vought in Nashville was awarded its initial contract
with Cessna Aircraft for wing panel assemblies for the Citation X. Deliveries began in mid-1995.
The Citation X is the world's fastest business jet with a .92 mach cruise speed. It will climb to 43,000 feet in just 30 minutes at its maximum takeoff weight, lifting swiftly to transcontinental and transatlantic crossing altitudes. The Citation X is certified to fly as high as 51,000 feet - where fuel efficiency is optimized and airline traffic is nonexistent.
The Citation X program was launched at the 1990 U.S. National Business Aviation Association convention. To date, more than 200 Cessna Citation Xs have entered service since the first delivery in August 1996. |
